The Global Powder Coating Initiative connects the industry around one practical objective: identify eligible powder coating materials with remaining value and help move them toward responsible recovery, reuse, recycling, reformulation, or other productive-use pathways where technically appropriate.
GSIIF provides the institutional platform for the initiative. CRC contributes powder coating recycling and program experience. The initiative itself remains the shared global industry platform.
WHEN THE ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL USE ENDS, THE MATERIAL MAY STILL HAVE A PATH FORWARD.
Across manufacturing, distribution and application, powder coating materials can become surplus, off-specification, discontinued, returned, aging, or otherwise unsuitable for their original purpose. The industry needs a credible way to identify what still has value and determine what can responsibly happen next.
THE INITIATIVE IS BROADER THAN RECLAIMED OVERSPRAY.
Material categories are starting points for evaluation—not automatic acceptance. Chemistry, contamination, storage history, condition, quantity, packaging, location and intended end use can all affect suitability.
OVRSPRAY CAN BE MORE THAN A LOSS.
During application, powder that does not deposit on the part can create a recoverable stream. Where the coating system, chemistry, cleanliness and operating controls allow, suitable overspray may be reclaimed inside the applicator’s own process.
When internal reuse is not practical, the material can be evaluated for another appropriate pathway. This is where manufacturer–applicator collaboration can become especially valuable.
ONE MATERIAL CATEGORY DOES NOT MEAN ONE RECOVERY ROUTE.
The strongest technical story is not a perfect circle. It is a disciplined decision process that sends suitable material toward the highest practical productive-use pathway and keeps unsuitable material outside the recovery claim.
THE ENTIRE POWDER COATING VALUE CHAIN HAS A ROLE.
The initiative is designed to connect organizations that make, specify, distribute, apply, recover, transport, test, finance or otherwise support powder coating materials and technology.
MAKE MATERIAL STEWARDSHIP PART OF THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP.
Manufacturers can invite applicator customers into the initiative through the existing supplier relationship. That keeps the manufacturer connected to the customer while creating another touchpoint around material stewardship, sustainability and recovery opportunities—without positioning the initiative as a replacement for the manufacturer–customer relationship.
CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING MEANINGFUL. THEN JOIN THE NETWORK.
“Donate” is not the only language that fits a global industrial program. A manufacturer may contribute material, an equipment company may provide machinery, a logistics company may provide freight, and a financial supporter may make a monetary contribution. The umbrella term is contribution.

AN APPROVED CONTRIBUTION OPENS THE PARTICIPANT PATH.
Once a contribution is accepted, the organization receives a unique Participant Contribution ID. That ID links the contribution to the participant profile and helps keep participation tied to verified activity rather than a simple marketing signup.

After activation, the participant completes its organization profile for review, public listing permissions and country/network placement.
A FORMAL, VERIFIABLE SUSTAINABILITY CREDENTIAL.
Following verification and approval, participating organizations receive an official certificate issued by the Global Sustainable Impact & Innovation Foundation through the Global Powder Coating Initiative.
Each certificate carries a unique GPCI Participant Number that corresponds to the organization’s official record in the Global Sustainability Participant Registry.

ONE NUMBER. ONE PARTICIPANT. ONE VERIFIABLE SUSTAINABILITY RECORD.
The registry gives the certificate real meaning. Anyone can verify that an organization is an approved participant in the GSIIF sustainability initiative and confirm the status of its GPCI certificate record.

Future public records can show the organization name, country, date of recognition, participant status, certificate status, and approved sustainability information.
Only information authorized for public display should appear in the registry.
THE MAP SHOULD SHOW VERIFIED PARTICIPATION—NOT DECORATIVE PINS.
Select a region, then a country. As approved participants are added, each country can display verified organizations, facilities, contribution categories and documented impact. Before launch, the interface stays transparent about having no fabricated participants.
MEASURE MATERIAL MOVEMENT WITHOUT DOUBLE COUNTING.
The initiative should distinguish what was offered, accepted, collected, processed and productively used. Those are different stages and should never be presented as the same impact number.
CREDIBILITY BEFORE CLAIMS.
A multinational company should be able to understand who organizes the initiative, what participation means, what it does not mean, and where technical or legal review begins.
THIS IS BIGGER THAN A RECYCLING PROGRAM. IT IS AN INDUSTRY PLATFORM.
